I have explained Spock's feelings before, I am sure of it! But the basic and most important thing about them is that Kirk is completely different to everyone else. Now, Spock's opinion of Kirk changed gradually until he could see there was true potential in Kirk and not only that, Kirk made him feel in a way he didn't think was possible. Yeah, it was anger and Kirk provoked him, but not many people would've been able to do that. Spock saw they could be a good team and by the end? He believed in that. That's why he came back, he wanted to know.
Now, in camp, things started to get awkward around the first time they were under the mistletoe. Spock doesn't do physical contact unless there's a meaning behind it and even if it was something that camp was forcing him to do, it . . . WELL, HE'S A VULCAN. He's not big on sleeping around or approving that kind of things, especially but he's aware of Kirk's nature and he disliked that he was betraying Uhura. However, he could see it as something he could not avoid no matter how much he wanted to and at the same time, a part of him liked that kiss and disliked that Kirk were treating it was it meant nothing. Spock couldn't admit it to himself, because he tried to deny those emotions for as long as he could! But then it became even more difficult with the second kiss, which is when he actually realized there was something and between being aware of what he was doing (HE HAS A HOT GIRLFRIEND WAITING FOR HIM) and the fact Kirk keeps on making him feel, yeah. I'VE EXPLAINED WHY KIRK IS IMPORTANT BEFORE I'M SURE, but in general, he's unpredictable, he's really smart and he surprises Spock in a lot of ways. He makes Spock believe in him and that doesn't happen every day. KIRK IS DIFFERENT TO EVERYONE ELSE and Spock slowly became aware of it! Not only that, but Kirk made him actually stop denying most of his feelings because he knew it was pointless to. Because Kirk wouldn't stop until he admitted them anyway, and even then, Spock still tried to deny to himself most of them until the third kiss.
It was unexpected, in a way. But Spock is bad at restraining himself sometimes and Kirk noticed and he didn't . . . see the point in denying it anymore. He was expecting Kirk to be awkward and to move on, especially because he trusted Kirk enough to know things wouldn't get ruined and he wouldn't let that happen anyway because he's his Captain first and foremost. However, Spock never expected Kirk to be conflicted to the point he started to suspect it meant something and that bothered him. Because Spock, while he made the choice to stop denying those feelings (and accepting the consequences at the same time), he didn't think Kirk could feel anything back. He got upset when Kirk wanted to do anything to keep Spock around, though, because that wasn't what he wanted. He wanted Kirk to make his own decisions and he suspected Kirk felt something even before Bones came back. And even then, he was sure nothing would happen but Kirk proved him wrong once again.
In short, Spock feels something strong for Kirk and he is . . . taking it very seriously, now that Kirk made that decision. He would've wanted to talk to Uhura first, though. I'D LOVE TO PLAY THAT OUT IF WE EVER GET ONE, I'm a terrible person. You've gained a Vulcan boyfriend, congratulations?
I don't know if any of this make sense, I'm sorry if it didn't. This took me almost an hour.
